How to Register for TNPSC OTR, Step by Step

One Time Registration (OTR) is the profile every TNPSC application starts from. You do it once, it stays valid for five years, and every detail in it is checked against your original certificates at verification. Do it slowly and correctly once.

Worth knowing

  • Register well before a notification you care about, portal traffic spikes near deadlines
  • Use a personal email you will still control in five years, not a college or office address

Step by step

01Keep these ready before you start

Your SSLC marksheet (for name, date of birth and registration details), community certificate number, a valid personal email and mobile number, your resized photo (20-50KB) and signature (10-20KB), and a way to pay ₹150 online.

02Open the official portal and choose One Time Registration

Go to the TNPSC exams portal (tnpscexams.net, linked from tnpsc.gov.in), click One Time Registration, then New User. Never register through third-party sites.

03Fill basic details exactly as your certificates read

Name, date of birth and parentage must match your SSLC certificate letter for letter. The community you enter must match your community certificate. Mismatches surface at certificate verification, not now, and can cost the selection.

04Upload photo and signature in the exact specification

Photo: 3.5×4.5cm, 20-50KB JPEG, white background, taken within 3 months. Signature: 3.5×1.5cm, 10-20KB, normal running handwriting. Use our free resizers to hit the sizes exactly.

05Enter education records from SSLC onwards

Add every qualification with register numbers, boards, years and medium of instruction. Tamil-medium entries here are what your PSTM claim is checked against later.

06Pay ₹150 and finish within 48 hours

The registration fee is ₹150, paid online. Complete the whole registration within 48 hours of starting, incomplete registrations are deleted after that window and you start over.

07Save your OTR ID and verify the profile

Note your user ID, set a password you will remember for years, and re-read the profile once fully. Corrections later are possible but windowed; getting it right now is free.

₹150, paid once. It keeps your registration valid for five years; individual exams then charge their own examination fee unless you are fee-exempt.
What happens if I don't finish OTR in 48 hours?
The incomplete registration is deleted and you must start again. Keep documents and images ready before you begin so the whole process takes one sitting.
Can I edit my OTR profile later?
Yes, most fields can be updated during open edit windows, and photo/signature can be refreshed. Core identity fields should still be entered correctly the first time.
