How to Pay the TNPSC Exam Fee (and Who Doesn't Have To)

Two separate payments exist: the one-time ₹150 OTR registration, and a per-exam fee for each notification unless you are exempt.

Worth knowing

  • Two separate payments exist, the one-time ₹150 OTR fee and a per-exam fee for each notification
  • SC, SCA, ST, PwBD and destitute widow candidates are exempt, applied automatically from your profile
  • If a payment fails, wait for the reversal and retry, never double-pay in panic

Step by step

01Know your fee before applying

The notification states the exam fee (commonly ₹100 for prelims-level papers). OTR registration of ₹150 is separate and already paid if you registered.

02Check the exemption list

SC, SCA, ST, PwBD and destitute widow candidates are exempt from examination fees. The exemption applies automatically from your verified OTR profile claims.

03Pay online inside the application flow

Net banking, cards and UPI are supported in the portal's payment step. Complete payment before the notification's deadline, unpaid applications don't count.

04If a payment fails

Wait for the bank reversal, then retry, don't double-pay in panic. Keep the transaction reference; the portal reflects successful payment against your application.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the TNPSC exam fee?
The one-time OTR registration is ₹150. Each exam then charges its own examination fee, commonly around ₹100 for prelims-level papers, as stated in that notification.
How many free applications do exempt candidates get?
Fee-exempt categories (SC/SCA/ST/PwBD/destitute widow) are exempt per application. General and BC/MBC candidates pay per exam; concession rules, where any, are stated in each notification.
My payment failed but money was debited. What now?
Wait for the bank to auto-reverse the failed transaction rather than paying again. Keep the transaction reference; the portal shows successful payment against your application once it clears.
