CCSE (Combined Civil Services Examination)
TNPSC's combined exam format: CCSE-I is Group 1, CCSE-II is Group 2/2A, CCSE-IV is Group 4 and VAO. One exam, many posts, allotted by rank and preference.
The combined format means one written exam feeds many posts: your rank plus submitted preferences decide the allotment at counselling. It also means one standard per level: CCSE-IV is SSLC standard in a single stage, while CCSE-I runs a three-stage process of prelims, mains and interview. VAO, once a separate recruitment, has been part of CCSE-IV since 2022.
