Tamil Nadu to rationalise registration offices, launch 25 model hubs and presence-less registration from Sept 15, 2026
Tamil Nadu announced on September 7, 2026 that registration offices will be rationalised, 25 model hubs created, and presence-less registration expanded from September 15 and October 15, 2026.

On September 7, 2026, Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes and Registration Minister D. Logesh Tamilselvan announced in the Assembly that the Registration Department would rationalise its offices, create 25 model registration hubs, and expand the “Engirundhum Pathivu” system across the State.
Key specifics
- Only one sub-registrar’s office is proposed within each revenue division under the rationalisation plan.
- 25 model registration hubs will be set up, with the first phase covering Vellore, Central Chennai, South Chennai, Chengalpattu and Coimbatore (North).
- From September 15, 2026, presence-less registration will apply to loan-related documents executed at banks and NBFCs.
